Former 'The Punisher' actor and Montgomery County native Jon Bernthal pays a visit to Commanders training ground
Jon Bernthal, a well-known actor and Montgomery County native, expressed his unwavering support for the Washington Commanders during a visit to their training camp on Monday. The actor, known for his roles as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead and Frank Castle/The Punisher in Daredevil and The Punisher, spoke to a group of reporters after the training session.
Bernthal, a lifelong fan of the Commanders, described the team as "go-getters" and expressed his optimism about their future. He conveyed a sense of excitement, stating that "everything’s right with this team" and that it feels like "payback time" for the Commanders.
The actor emphasized that being a Commanders fan now "feels so good... like it was back in the day." Bernthal highlighted the strong culture under Coach Quinn and celebrated the team’s work ethic and positive momentum. He praised the team’s collective spirit and potential for success this season.
Bernthal, who grew up in the Cabin John area of Montgomery County, frequently visits the area because he still has family living there. The actor graduated from Sidwell Friends School, a prestigious private school in Washington D.C.
The Commanders training camp was attended by Bernthal, who was present as a fan, not as an actor. He actively watches games no matter where he is filming and expressed a deep emotional connection to the team.
In a heartfelt statement, Bernthal said, "I've been a fan my whole life, and it feels so good to be here now, to see the team I love doing so well. I'm proud to be a part of this community, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for the Washington Commanders."
