Kelly Clarkson Pauses Las Vegas Residency Following Ex-Husband's Passing
American singer Kelly Clarkson has announced the pause and postponement of the remainder of her August 2025 Las Vegas residency shows at Caesars Palace, following the tragic passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Brandon, a talent manager and the father of Clarkson's two children, River Rose (11) and Remington Alexander (9), had been battling cancer for over three years. The news of his death was announced by his father's company, Starstruck Entertainment, on Thursday.
Clarkson, 43, expressed her need to be "fully present" for her children amid Blackstock’s recent illness and passing, leading to the decision to postpone the shows originally scheduled for August 8-9 and 15-16, 2025.
Fans affected by these cancellations have the option to keep their tickets for performances slated in 2026 or request refunds within a 30-day window. The residency's fall 2025 dates (November 7-8 and 14-15) remain scheduled on the Caesars Palace website, indicating a potential resumption in the future. Six dates are also planned for July and August 2026.
Clarkson, who won the first season of the American reality show "American Idol" in 2002, has gained worldwide fame as a singer and television host. Normally, she keeps her private life out of the public eye, but she took to Instagram to express her feelings, apologising to all those who had already purchased tickets for the postponed concerts.
Clarkson and Blackstock were married for seven years before separating in 2020 and finalising their divorce in 2022. Brandon also has two other children from a previous marriage.
