Kelly Clarkson Grieves After Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock's Passing

American singer Kelly Clarkson is currently mourning the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away on August 7, 2025, following a three-year battle with cancer.

Clarkson, 43, and Blackstock, 48, were married for seven years and share two children together, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9. The divorce between the two was finalized in 2022.

In the wake of Blackstock's passing, Clarkson has been described as "devastated" and is focusing on prioritising her children's well-being during this difficult time. She has postponed the remaining dates of her Las Vegas residency performances to be fully present for her children amidst the tragic circumstances.

Prior to his death, Clarkson had been supportive of Blackstock and maintained a commitment to ensuring their children had the best possible relationship with their father. Despite their messy divorce, she avoided speaking negatively about him to their children.

Blackstock also has two other children from a previous marriage.

Clarkson, who won the first season of the US reality show "American Idol" in 2002, has gained worldwide fame as a singer and host since her victory. She has expressed the need to be fully present for her children during this challenging period.

Clarkson has apologised to those who had already purchased tickets for the affected concerts and asked for their understanding during this difficult time. Four concerts scheduled for August in Las Vegas have been postponed as a result.

Starstruck Entertainment, Blackstock's father's company, announced his death and requested privacy for the family in the wake of the tragic news. Blackstock passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Our thoughts are with Kelly Clarkson and her children during this difficult time.
