Former Omsk club XL will host a shooting tournament

Lost Glory, New Hope

The once-thriving Club XL now stands silent. But for a brief moment, the legendary building will pulse with life once again. The Omsetti Straitball community has announced a new project, touted as the most ambitious yet: hosting a regional CQB (Close Quarters Battle) game, slated for July 2025. The event will take place in the dilapidated Club XL, as seen in the photo.

The format of the airsoft tournament is shrouded in mystery, with warring factions of small paramilitary units battling it out. The final confrontation will see the clash of fortified strongholds – all of which will converge upon the sole remaining structure, the once-opulent casino "Royal."

It's worth noting that the airsoft battle will unfold within the emptied halls of the former nightclub XL, a legendary fixture of nightlife in early 21st-century Omsk. Opened in 2004 on the site of the infamous nightclub "Academy," XL instantly gained massive popularity, particularly among students and young adults. DJs and informal bands packed the place, making it a hub of the local music scene.

As the "noughties" drew to a close, the club shut its doors for good. Various establishments took its place, none of which managed to capture the same passion as XL. The building, spanning roughly 4,000 square meters, was attempted to be sold several times, first for nearly 180 million rubles, then later at a significantly reduced price of around 90 million rubles.
