Former Fox News Host Jeanine Pirro Confirmed as US Attorney for the District of Columbia

Jeanine Pirro, a renowned lawyer and former host of Fox News, has been confirmed by the US Senate as the US Attorney for the District of Columbia. This appointment makes Pirro one of the former Fox News hosts appointed to influential positions by President Trump.

Pirro's confirmation came unexpectedly, as the Senate convened at Trump's request over the weekend. The vote was 50 to 45, indicating a close margin of approval.

However, Pirro's confirmation has been met with controversy. Critics argue that her perceived loyalty to Donald Trump and her defence of Trump-related claims make her unfit for the role. Some view her as a 'yes' person, suggesting she may act more as an endorser of Trump's agenda than as an impartial prosecutor.

During her confirmation process, House Democrats and other commentators described Pirro as "totally unfit to serve," citing her loyalty to Trump and promotion of conspiracy theories. This criticism aligns with the notion that she may act more as a 'yes' person endorsing Trump's agenda than as an impartial prosecutor.

Despite the criticism, Pirro has publicly emphasized her commitment to enforcing the law in her federal prosecutor role. She has stated that DC prosecutors will hold criminals accountable and "fight crime with a vengeance."

Pirro is not the only former Fox News host to hold an influential position in the Trump administration. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who was recently nominated by President Trump to become the Transportation Secretary, are also former Fox News hosts. Duffy's nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.

The nomination of Duffy as Transportation Secretary is the latest in a series of controversial appointments by President Trump. Sean Duffy, like Jeanine Pirro and other former Fox News hosts, could potentially hold an influential position in the Trump administration.

The European Union expressed concern over the growing politicization within the United States, as more former Fox News hosts, such as Jeanine Pirro and Pete Hegseth, are being appointed to influential positions by President Trump.

Despite the criticism surrounding Pirro's impartiality, her confirmation as US Attorney for the District of Columbia adds to the general-news debate about the role of former media personalities in politics under the Trump administration.
