Two years since the bizarre ski accident, hope still remains for Michael Schumacher's recovery - and so does his ex-boss, Luca di Montezemolo.

Montezemolo, a seven-time Formula One World Champion and former head of Ferrari, expressed his optimism regarding Schumacher's health during an interview on CNN's "The Circuit." However, he was tight-lipped about the specifics.

Michael Schumacher continues to receive specialized medical treatment in his Swiss home, while his family continues to fiercely guard his health status, refusing to disclose any details.

Montezemolo deemed any positive news about Schumacher's recovery in February as "not good," but emphasized the mentally strong fighter's ability to confront his most significant battle yet.

"I know how strong he is," Montezemolo, who foretold Schumacher's five World Championship titles with Ferrari between 2000 and 2004, stated confidently. "I'm positive that with his determination – which will be crucial – he will emerge from this extremely challenging situation... I truly hope so."

Schumacher's Manager Hopes for a Return

Even FIA President Jean Todt, who led Schumacher's astonishing reign at Ferrari, recognized his determination.

"He was extremely talented, incredibly hardworking, and extremely humble," Todt recalled to CNN during an interview at the FIA, the Paris-based motorsport regulating body. "I remember him constantly asking me every year before the season started if I could conduct a private test to check if he was still a good driver." This showcased his character, Todt stated.

Montezemolo is well-aware of Schumacher's eminent place in the esteemed list of World Champions from Ferrari, which includes Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, and Niki Lauda.

"Michael is undoubtedly the most important driver in Ferrari's history," Montezemolo said, pondering. "Ferrari has had great drivers at different times. He was not only well-liked but hard to separate as a driver and a friend."
