Former cricket stars Herschelle Gibbs and Tillakaratne Dilshan express support for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their quest to end their title drought in the Indian Premier League (IPL) finale of 2025.

In the hotly anticipated IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, cricket legends Herschelle Gibbs and Tillakaratne Dilshan are rooting for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to snag their long-awaited first championship victory. The big showdown goes down between RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, with both squads eager to take home the trophy.

Familiar terrain awaits RCB, having reached the final three times before-in 2009, 2011, and 2016-only to fall just short each time. The weight of an 18-year-long wait has fans and former cricketers champing at the bit to see RCB claim their inaugural IPL title.

Former South African star Herschelle Gibbs, speaking with ANI at The Legend-Z T10 League, is backing RCB to chase down any total Punjab puts on the board. "Everyone who loves cricket would be ecstatic if RCB finally got a title," Gibbs declared. "It's about time."

With a pivotal role in RCB's 2009 heartbreak playing for the Deccan Chargers, Gibbs now sees a stronger RCB squad with a better shot at victory. "That was the start of their woes," Gibbs mused, referring to their history of falling short in finals. "But this time might be different."

Former Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan also expressed his support for RCB and their talismanic figure, Virat Kohli. "RCB is looking good all through the tournament," Dilshan said. "I wish them all the best for a stunning win tomorrow. It's Bengaluru's night!"

PBKS, meanwhile, are treading in uncharted waters, making only their second appearance in an IPL final, with their last one being 11 years ago in 2014. But with Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer leading the charge, PBKS have transformed into a formidable batting force this season.

Following their dominating performance over the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, PBKS are eager to keep the momentum rolling. But against an in-form RCB squad brimming with confidence and public support, the final promises to be a nail-biting match-one that could finally rewrite RCB's finals legacy.

While experts agree that both teams have their strengths, there seems to be a slight edge towards RCB based on recent form. But don't count out the unpredictable PBKS; they're ready to steal the show and make history!

"Fans and former cricketers, including Herschelle Gibbs and Tillakaratne Dilshan, are eagerly anticipating Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) potential triumph in the IPL, as they bid to claim their first championship title."

"RCB's opponents, Punjab Kings (PBKS), are venturing into uncharted territory, making only their second appearance in an IPL final, but with a resurgent batting force this season, they're ready to make history and potentially steal the show."
