Forest Fire Snuffed Out in Krasnoyarsky Krai

In a small victory for the region, a forest fire, the first of the year, has been extinguished in Krasnoyarsky Krai. The blaze erupted south of the area due to a dried-up grass patch.

Located near the hamlet of Red Village in the Shushenskoye district, the fire burned through a 1.5-hectare area. A team of five firefighters from the Shushenskoye Fire Department was dispatched to battle the flames, as reported by the regional Fire Department headquarters.

With the help of portable forest fire extinguishers and the "Still" sprinkler system, the fire was swiftly contained. More hands were lent by local volunteer firefighters and a quick-reaction team from the district.

Thanks to their combined efforts, the forest fire was completely quelled in just 1.5 hours, covering an area of 1.73 hectares.

Preliminary evidence suggests the fire leapt to the nearby woodland. The culprits are currently under investigation.
