Forest fires increased in Buryatia, resulting in 20 recorded incidents
In the Republic of Buryatia, as many as 13 active forest fires have been reported as of July 4, 2025, according to the latest updates from Roslesojrana. These fires have collectively affected an area of approximately 12,370 hectares, with efforts underway to contain and extinguish them.
The fires are part of a larger total in Russia, where 31 active outbreaks were reported nationwide, covering around 13,913 hectares. The fires in Buryatia, however, do not currently pose a threat to populated areas.
The firefighting operations involve over 620 people and 72 firefighting teams, including 50 specialists from Irkutsk and other hired personnel. Additionally, 150 federal reserve personnel, along with 12 individuals from Khabarovsk, 12 from Kirov, 20 from Arkhangelsk, 16 from Perm, and 10 from Vologda, are also part of the team.
The fires are currently burning in the Barguziin, Bauntovsky, Evenki, Eravinsky, Kizhinginsky, Kychtinsky, and Pribaikalsky districts. Notably, the number of active forest fires in the Barguzin, Bauntovsky, and Eravinsky districts has decreased to 7.
Since June 28, the number of fire points has fluctuated, with 73 fire points on June 28, 60 on June 29, 32 on July 2, and 20 as of July 3. Remarkably, 13 forest fires were extinguished in the Barguziin, Bauntovsky, Evenki, Eravinsky, and Ivolginsky districts, covering a total area of 37,207 hectares.
A new forest fire was discovered in the Pribaikalsky district over the past 24 hours, caused by a dry thunderstorm. The total area covered by the fires is 42,366 hectares, with the seven remaining fires accounting for 19,911 hectares.
In response to the situation, a state of emergency has been declared in the forest fund of Buryatia. The public is encouraged to report any signs of forest fires via the forest guard's hotline number, (301-2) 20-44-44.
