New Tank Firefighting Vehicle Enhances Luenen Fire Department's Capabilities

The Luenen Fire Department has recently introduced a new tank firefighting vehicle to its fleet - the TLF 3000, based on the Unimog U 5023. This all-wheel drive vehicle, operated by the Volunteer Fire Department of Kiefen (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Kiefen), is a significant upgrade from their 31-year-old TLF.

The TLF 3000 is specifically designed for deployments off paved roads, making it ideal for tackling forest fires, field fires, and bush fires. Its off-road capabilities are reinforced by its reliability on forest paths or fields, thanks to the Unimog's robust design.

The vehicle boasts a water tank capacity of 3000 liters, equipped with a Schlingmann firefighting centrifugal pump S 3000. This pump, housed in the rear of the TLF 3000, has a delivery capacity of 3000 liters per minute, ensuring a swift response to fires.

The TLF 3000 carries 120 liters of foam agent, providing additional firefighting capabilities. A quick attack C spray nozzle can be operated from the roof hatch in the cab roof, allowing for efficient water distribution. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with four front spray nozzles for driving over burning vegetation and advancing towards the fire.

In case of larger fires, the water cannon on the superstructure roof can spray up to 2000 l/min. The vehicle is also equipped with LED ambient lighting and a light mast with eight LED spotlights for night work, enhancing visibility and safety during operations.

The TLF 3000 is not just a powerful firefighting machine, but also a well-equipped one. It is loaded with firefighting equipment, including breathing apparatus, hoses, spray nozzles, and a generator. A box for fire boots is mounted on the roof of the TLF 3000, ensuring easy access for firefighters.

The pump-and-roll procedure allows the use of the pump while driving, enabling simultaneous extinguishing by firefighters running alongside the vehicle. This feature, combined with the vehicle's ability to operate in high water with a water depth of 80 cm not being a problem, makes the TLF 3000 a versatile and adaptable tool in firefighting.

The Unimog TLF 3000 excels in forest fires and field fires due to its off-road capabilities and large water tank capacity. Its introduction to the Luenen Fire Department's fleet marks a significant step forward in their firefighting capabilities, particularly in challenging terrains.
