Forecasters issue frost advisory for upcoming nights.
Let's talk about the upcoming weather in Kazakhstan this coming Sunday!
Whoop, dust up! Get ready for a northwesterly cyclone that'll be causing all sorts of chaos across much of the country. Winds are gonna grow stronger, and the south is expected to deal with some nasty dust storms. Top it off, and we'll have fog in the west, northwest, and north during the night and early morning.
Chill alert! The Aбай region's west and the north and east of the East Kazakhstan region are in for some frosty nights as temperatures could drop by 2 to 3 degrees. And in the west and north of the West Kazakhstan region, it'll be a nippy 1 degree.
Be careful with those fires, folks! High fire danger is forecast in numerous regions, including Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Turkestan, parts of Almaty, southern Atyrau, and many more. And it gets worse in eastern Kyzylorda and eastern Turkestan, where it's expected to be extra dangerous.
Now, this isn't the first we've heard about Kazakhstan's 2025 weather. Meteorologists previously predicted a whole heap of regional variability and potential hazards for May. Let me give you a quick run-down:
- Southwest and Southern Regions: Brace yourself for dust storms, and parts of Mangystau and Kyzylorda may be a tad dry.
- Southeast: Expect heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and some mountain snow. Hail's possible during the day, too.
- Northern & Eastern Areas: It might rain some snow at night, especially in mountainous zones, with no significant temperature changes.
- Central Kazakhstan: Aktogay and Shet districts (Karaganda region) might feel the effects of drought, while other central areas could see some hail.
Down the line, southern Kazakhstan could reach temperatures of 35-37°C in some areas due to broader Central Asian heat trends, much like the extreme heat events that occurred in March 2025.
Don't forget the hazards, though. Dust storms are likely in western and southern regions, and there's a risk of floods in the southeast. Plus, drought could affect several districts across multiple regions, which won't be great for agriculture. And with early-season heat events in March 2025, it seems like Kazakhstan's heat vulnerability is on the rise.
The regions facing high fire and drought risks include Mangystau (with Beineu, Mangystau, and Karakiyansky districts at the top), Kyzylorda (Aral, Kazalinsky, and Karmakshinsky districts), Aktobe (Shalkar district), and Turkestan (Suzak district). Keep your eyes peeled!
By 2025, it's projected that we may strengthen our efforts in Kazakhstan's weather-forecasting, given the predicted regional variability and potential hazards, such as dust storms, floods, and heatwave events. For instance, on a coming Sunday, we might expect dust storms in the southwestern and southern regions, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the southeast, and snow in the northern and eastern areas. Moreover, farmers should be aware of the risk of drought in several districts across multiple regions, which could impact agriculture significantly. So, let's stay informed and stay safe!
