Yakutia Braces for Cooler Weather as Arctic Air Mass Moves In

After an Arctic air mass moved into Yakutia, Russia, starting from August 12, the weather forecast for the rest of the month is expected to be cooler with variable conditions, according to Tatyana Marshalik, the deputy head of Yakutia's Hydrometeorological Center.

Cooler Temperatures and Rainy Days Ahead

In Yakutsk, the daily highs will mostly range between 14°C and 21°C, and lows between 6°C and 12°C, reflecting a cooler pattern compared to early August when highs were in the mid-20s °C. From August 21 onward, highs are expected to hover around 14-20°C and lows around 8-12°C. The latter part of August will show increased cloud cover and rainy days, with 16 rainy days in the month overall, and only a few sunny days (4 days) and no snow days reported.

Warm Weather in Western Yakutia

Contrary to the rest of the republic, the western parts of Yakutia will experience warmer weather this week. Tatyana Marshalik confirmed that the Lensky, Mirinsky districts, and parts of the Olekminsky district will see temperatures rise by the end of the week, reaching +18... +23 degrees. This warmer weather will not bring much precipitation, unlike the rest of Yakutia.

Mostly Dry Weather Across Yakutia

The weather details provided indicate mostly dry weather for most of Yakutia, with the exception of some light rain in central areas and specific districts. For the rest of the week, most regions in Yakutia can expect dry weather, except for the Aldan and Neryungri districts, and the northeast. There is a chance of light rain in central Yakutia within the next day or two.

No Extreme Weather Predicted

Winds are generally calm to moderate, and no extreme weather like snowfall or frost is forecasted yet in Yakutsk during the rest of August. The cooler temperatures are typical for late summer cooling in this region after a cold air mass passage. Tatyana Marshalik did not mention any chance of light rain in the western parts of Yakutia. The warmer weather in the western parts of Yakutia will not affect the rest of the republic's mostly dry weather.
