Heavy Rainfall Forecast Across India Over the Next Few Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for significant rainfall events across various parts of the country over the next few days. According to the forecast, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in multiple regions, including Northwest India, West India, and Northeast India.

Northwest and West India

Heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall, is predicted for regions such as East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and East Madhya Pradesh. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan, Gujarat, and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, with light to moderate rain predicted at many places in the region during the next week.

Northeast India

The IMD predicts that light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, will continue over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from July 29 to August 4.

Overall Rainfall Outlook

The IMD also anticipates above-normal rainfall (about 106% of the long-period average) over most parts of the country, including these regions, during August and September 2025, indicating a robust monsoon season.

  • Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will have heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunder from July 29 to August 3.

In addition to the heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and continuous rainfall are likely to persist across the region. Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant and follow local weather advisories.
