Good day! We've got a bit of a stormy situation unfolding in Germany as we kick off June. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued warnings for severe weather, including thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, particularly focusing on southern regions.

According to the DWD's latest forecast, a cold front from a low-pressure system off Norway's west coast is moving south, but it's proceeding at a snail's pace. Behind it, a bit warmer and humid air masses are making their way in, but it's still quite steamy down south. In the southern parts and in Saxony, thunderstorms are expected in the morning and afternoon, with local downpours of up to 15 liters per square meter per hour.

During the day, the DWD anticipates some intense thunderstorms in the south, parts of the east, and the southern center. These storms may bring heavy rainfall of up to 20 liters per square meter in a short time, small hail, and gusts of up to 70 km/h (Bft 8 to 9). In the south, local severe weather conditions due to heavy rainfall of up to 30 liters per square meter, larger hail, and gusts of up to 80 km/h (Bft 9) can't be ruled out. In the north, quick thunderstorms with small hail and gusts of up to 65 km/h (Bft 8) are less probable.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies, with the occasional shower or thunderstorm in the east and north. Generally, it will stay dry. Temperatures in the northwest will range from 17 to 20 degrees, and 21 to 24 degrees elsewhere. Winds will be mild to moderate, blowing from the west to northwest.
