Wild Weather Ahead! ⚡️🌧️
Forecast issues severe weather warnings for impending storms
News flash! On Sunday, brace yourself for more thunderstorms ripping through Germany! First, it's the west that takes the hit, then the center, eventually, the south and east will join the stormy party from the afternoon, as warned by the German Weather Service (DWD) 🌬️. Prepare for heavy rain, hail, and whopping gusts of wind. In the south and east, the storms could be relentless with hailstones up to three centimeters and wind gusts that'll knock your socks off, reaching 100 kilometers per hour 🔥⚡️!
Before the thunderstorm chaos, the east and southeast will cook in the heat with temperatures soaring to 30-34°C. In the west and northwest, the highest temperatures will only reach 20-24°C, pleasantly cooler but still hot enough to sweat 😅🌞.
So, put on your rain boots, and hold on tight! The stormy mood will linger into the night on Monday, moving eastwards in the second half. It's gonna cool down to 17-8°C 🍂🎈.
Saturday, we saw countless deployments due to thunderstorms in parts of Germany. Emergency services in Paderborn were particularly busy, handling flooded cellars. Luckily, there were no injuries to report 🤕. The roof of a production hall collapsed, and the Paderborn hospital was hit hard by the storm, with water entering the building and disrupting elevator service. The university campus in Paderborn was also battered by the storm 🌪️💦.
TV reports suggest a tornado tore through Altenbeken, however, the German Weather Service is still investigating the claims 🌪️.
