Forecast Alert: IMD Issues Warning for Intense Rainfall Across Maharashtra, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam, Delhi, and Multiple Other Regions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast for specific regions in India from August 15 to August 20, 2025.

South Peninsular India

Heavy rainfall is expected in several southern states. Kerala & Mahe will experience heavy rain from August 15 to August 18. Coastal Karnataka will have heavy to very heavy rain on August 15, and again from August 17 to 19. Telangana is expected to have heavy to very heavy rain on August 15 and 16. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam will receive heavy to very heavy rain on August 15. Tamil Nadu & Rayalaseema will experience heavy showers on August 15.

Northwest India

Northern states are also bracing for heavy rainfall. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir are forecasted to receive multiple rounds of heavy to very heavy rain. Specifically, Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain from August 15 to 20, and Jammu-Kashmir from August 15 to 18. Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are predicted to have heavy showers on August 15 and 16. Rajasthan will have heavy rain, with very heavy rain in the eastern part from August 15 to 18 and again on August 20.

Other Regions

Elsewhere in India, Bihar is expected to experience back-to-back low-pressure systems, leading to heavy rainfall on August 18 and 19. Maharashtra is forecasted to have heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, particularly in Marathawada on August 19. Arunachal Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall on August 16-17 and 20. Coastal Karnataka is predicted to experience heavy to very heavy rain from August 15 to August 19. Konkan & Goa will experience extremely heavy rain on August 17, with very heavy rain predicted on August 16 and 18-19. Jammu & Kashmir is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain from August 15 to August 18. In Uttarakhand, heavy to very heavy rain is predicted on August 16 and 17.

The Gujarat Region will have heavy to very heavy rain from August 15-17 and 18-20. Assam & Meghalaya will experience heavy to very heavy rain on August 15, 16, 17, and 20. Saurashtra & Kutch will have heavy rain from August 17-20. The national capital, Delhi/NCR, is forecasted to have cooler days with multiple rain spells, with maximum temperatures 1-5°C below normal, from August 15-17. The capital, Kerala and Mahe, are also forecasted to have heavy rainfall from August 15 to August 18.

Weather-forecasting for the specified time period suggests that Kerala & Mahe, as well as Coastal Karnataka, will be subject to heavy rainfall based on the IMD's weather forecast. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh in Northwest India is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall according to the weather-forecasting by the IMD during the same period.
