Ford skids on black ice, crashes into tree near Horn-Bad Meinberg

A car skidded on black ice and crashed into a tree late on December 26, 2025. The accident happened on the B239 near Horn-Bad Meinberg/Wilberg, leaving the vehicle severely damaged. Three passengers were inside, but only two suffered minor injuries.

The incident occurred at 23:05 on a stretch of the B239 known for sharp turns. The 20-year-old driver, from Steinheim, was heading towards Detmold when the road’s icy, mirror-smooth surface caused him to lose control in a right-hand curve. The Ford veered off the road and struck a tree, leaving the car in a precarious position near an embankment.

Firefighters arrived to free the trapped passengers, as the vehicle risked sliding further. The driver and a 17-year-old female front-seat passenger escaped unharmed. However, the two male passengers, aged 19 and 20, sustained minor injuries. After the rescue, the badly damaged car was towed from the scene. Authorities later confirmed that black ice had contributed to the loss of control.

The accident resulted in no serious injuries, though two passengers required minor medical attention. The driver, who remained unhurt, was travelling on a treacherous section of road at the time. Emergency services cleared the scene, and the vehicle was removed for further inspection.
