Kicking it Old School: Mike Kruger and Wife Birgit Ditch Tradition for Golden Wedding Anniversary

Couple vanishes on their 50th wedding anniversary - "For our Golden Anniversary, we chose anonymity"
Comedian Mike Kruger (73) and his partner Birgit aren't gearing up for a grand celebratory bash to mark their Golden Wedding Anniversary. In the latest episode of the NDR 90.3 podcast "Feel Hamburg", host Daniel Kaiser got the scoop: "But there's no party on the horizon. No gifts, either. That date holds no real importance to us. We've been together for 55 years, and we celebrate our anniversary more regularly anyway." The musician continued: "We'll bid adieu in the summer for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We're jetting off somewhere off the radar."
The Boss Lady
In the podcast, Kruger also unveiled Birgit's superior financial management skills. "My wife is the ultimate decider in all aspects. She manages the office, the money, the works. I know the value of money, and I'm modest by nature. But my wife has a deft touch for it." He added, "Ever since I handed over the cash after performances, she's been squirreling it away. Clever lady." It turns out Birgit is the force behind Kruger's decision to slow things down and spend more time at home. "She's dead on the money with that one. I've been gallivanting for 40 years, so it's great to be at home now, especially since I've hit that golden retirement age."
The couple also teased the potential return of the "Supernase" films with Thomas Gottschalk (74). A script exists, but progress has come to a halt since film producer Karl Spiehs' (1931-2022) demise. "Other folks couldn't find the script amusing." Last October, Kruger shared the planned storyline with the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (NOZ), explaining that Gottschalk and he travel through time from the 1980s to the present day, clueless about the internet, mobile phones, and electric transport. "But we've still got our 1980s humor, and we'll crack those jokes." Kruger added, "The young producers - some of them not even old enough to know who we are - told us there's no way we can pull it off."
The Supernase legends
The debut comedy of the four-part "Supernase" series hit theaters in 1982: "Piratensender Powerplay". It was followed by "Die Supernasen" in 1983, "Zwei Nasen tanken Super" in 1984, and the final installment "Die Einsteiger". In the 1980s alone, the films welcomed over ten million moviegoers.

Mike Kruger and his wife Birgit are choosing an untraditional way to celebrate their upcoming golden wedding anniversary, opting for a low-key trip instead of a grand bash. The comedian revealed on the NDR 90.3 podcast "Feel Hamburg" that his wife, Birgit, manages their finances with great skill, which contributed to their decision to slow down and spend more time at home. Interestingly, they have also hinted at the potential revival of the "Supernose" films with Thomas Gottschalk, although progress has been halted since the demise of film producer Karl Spiehs.
