Footballer Osimhen to Resurface at Galatasaray Amid Strange Mosque Name Dispute
In an unexpected turn of events, the Bulut Mosque in Konya's Karatay district found itself listed on Google Maps as the "Victor Osimhen Mosque." This change, however, was not the result of any official decision or involvement by Victor Osimhen himself.
The misnaming of the mosque was due to incorrect user edits on the platform, likely as a prank or mistake. This temporary renaming led to outrage among local worshippers who considered it disrespectful, as Osimhen is a Christian football player and has no direct connection to the mosque.
Comments voiced strong objections to the name change, stating that it is against their beliefs for the mosque to be named after a Christian individual. Zeki Yaylacı, a local figure, even called the change an "insult to Muslims."
Authorities are now being urged to fix the listing of the Bulut Mosque on Google Maps to prevent such incidents in the future. Tighter controls on online edits are being advocated for to maintain respect and accuracy in the platform's listings.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen's football career continues to flourish. Having joined Galatasaray from Napoli this summer in a record €75 million deal, Osimhen is poised to make his competitive debut as the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
Osimhen had a late start to pre-season training due to drawn-out transfer negotiations. He reported late for training but has since resumed full training and is set to make his return to action on Friday against Karagumruk.
Last season, while on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen netted an impressive 37 goals and eight assists, demonstrating his prowess on the field. Galatasaray is set to unveil Osimhen and Leroy Sane before the Lazio friendly at RAMS Park.
Despite the controversy surrounding the misnaming of the Bulut Mosque, it's clear that Osimhen's talent and potential will continue to captivate football fans in Turkey.
