Football team, Toronto Argonauts, acquire Branden Dozier after his departure from Hamilton club.
Branden Dozier Joins Toronto Argonauts After Successful CFL Career
American defensive back Branden Dozier has signed with the Toronto Argonauts, adding a seasoned veteran to the team's roster. The Argonauts (2-7) will visit the Edmonton Elks (2-6) on Friday, August 15, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
Dozier, who has played in 108 career regular-season games, brings a wealth of experience to the Argonauts. Over eight seasons, he has accumulated impressive statistics, including 416 defensive tackles, 75 special teams tackles, eight interceptions, five sacks, three forced fumbles, and one touchdown.
Dozier's career began with the Montreal Alouettes in 2017, where he earned a nomination for Most Outstanding Rookie. In 2018, he received an East Division All-Star selection. He then moved to the B.C. Lions in 2019 before spending four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. During his time with the Stampeders, Dozier contributed 183 defensive tackles, 34 special teams tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions.
However, his brief stint with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season was cut short when Reggie Stubblefield's return to the lineup led to Dozier becoming a healthy scratch.
Dozier is known for his versatility, having played as a defensive back and linebacker across multiple CFL teams. His consistent production and strong defensive skills make him a valuable asset to the Argonauts.
Friday's match against the Edmonton Elks will be Dozier's first game with the Argonauts. Fans are eager to see how he will contribute to the team's performance and help them turn their season around.
