Pittsburgh Steelers Bolster Offensive Line with the Signing of Andrus Peat and Logan Woodside

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some moves to their training camp roster, announcing the signing of offensive lineman Andrus Peat and quarterback Logan Woodside on Thursday. To make room for these new additions, the team waived long snapper Tucker Addington.

Andrus Peat: A Proven Offensive Lineman

Peat, a first-round pick (13th overall) by the New Orleans Saints in 2015, has had a successful nine-season NFL career, primarily with the Saints. He played in 111 games, starting 102 of them, and earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2018 through 2020. Peat has started in 103 regular season games and has not been selected to a Pro Bowl since 2020.

Peat's most recent team before joining the Steelers was the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played in the 2024 season, primarily as a role player, appearing in 15 games with one start. Before his NFL career, Peat played college football at Stanford University, where he appeared in 40 games with 27 starts, earning first-team All-American and All-Pac-12 honours as a junior.

Logan Woodside: A New Prospect

Unlike Peat, there is less detailed information available about Woodside's football career. However, his signing by the Steelers suggests he will be joining the team as a prospect or depth player to support the quarterback position. Woodside was a seventh-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. He has appeared in 13 games (no starts) with the Tennessee Titans (2020-21) and Atlanta Falcons (2022-23).

With these signings, the Steelers aim to strengthen their offensive line and quarterback depth, preparing for the upcoming season. The team will continue to train and evaluate these new additions as they work towards their goals.

Peat's NFL career, spanning nine seasons, includes time with the New Orleans Saints, where he earned three Pro Bowl selections, and most recently, the Las Vegas Raiders. Woodside, signed by the Steelers as a prospect or depth player, has previously played with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons in American football, popularly known as NFL or football. The goal for the Steelers with these signings is to bolster their offensive line and quarterback depth to prepare for the upcoming game season.
