Football team Leeds United intensifies its broadcasting, possibly partnering with Powersoft for improved audio technology.

In the heart of Leeds, England, Elland Road stadium, home to three-time English football champions Leeds United FC since 1919, has recently undergone an audio transformation. The new public address and voice alarm (PA/VA) system, a crucial addition to the stadium's infrastructure, is powered by Powersoft amplifier platforms.

The system, designed to ensure maximum intelligibility on match days while also providing power and punch for concerts and live entertainment events, is a testament to the capabilities of the Ottocanali series from Powersoft's mission-critical range. This series forms the amplification backbone for the PA/VA system, with a total of 24 Ottocanali amplifier platforms from Powersoft's Ottocanali range being utilised.

The Ottocanali series offers multiple channels, making it highly suitable for complex sound reinforcement systems requiring multiple zones or outputs. Models such as the Ottocanali 4K4, installed at Elland Road, deliver around 4000 watts, ensuring sufficient power for large venues like stadiums where high audio levels and clarity are critical.

The system is EN 54-certified, meeting European standards for voice alarm and fire detection systems. It is complemented by Unica and Mezzo-series amplifiers from Powersoft's fixed-install range, reflecting the Ottocanali series' versatility and compatibility within large-scale, fixed-installation audio solutions.

The installation was handled by U.K.-based system integrator ImPerium Integration, with Alan Inkster, managing director of the company, overseeing the project. Ten Martin Audio CDD12 loudspeakers are fitted at the rear of the West Stand for additional coverage, while ceiling loudspeakers throughout all stands are EN 54-compliant Bosch EN54 models.

The Ottocanali amplifiers power 18 Martin Audio TORUS T1230 arrays in the North Stand, 18 in the South Stand, 24 in the West Stand, 30 in the East Stand, and 12 in the corners of the stadium. An ultra-compact Mezzo 604 amplifier is installed in the East Stand banqueting area, and Martin Audio SXCF118 subwoofers are complementing the T1230s throughout the stadium.

Additionally, two Unica 4K8 amplifiers from Powersoft's newest fixed-install amplifier series are used in the Pavilion banqueting hall. The stadium's layout has been updated separately over the years, resulting in an uneven distribution of its 37,792 seats across four stands. An additional 50 RCF ceiling loudspeakers are installed in the South Stand concourses and other areas.

Alan Inkster, speaking about the new system, has stated that it has been a hit with club and fans alike. The Elland Road stadium's audio upgrade, powered by Powersoft's Ottocanali series amplifiers, promises to deliver clear, powerful sound for years to come.

The Elland Road stadium's audio upgrade, with its new PA/VA system featuring the Ottocanali series amplifiers, is equipped to offer maximum intelligibility for football matches and amplified power for concerts and live events. With multiple zones and outputs catered by the Ottocanali series, each stand now boasts EN 54-compliant Bosch loudspeakers and Martin Audio TORUS arrays, ensuring clear audio for the stadium's 37,792 seats across four stands. Moreover, the system's versatility extends to fixed-installation audio solutions, as evidenced by the use of Unica and Mezzo-series amplifiers, as well as Martin Audio SXCF118 subwoofers and additional RCF ceiling loudspeakers in select areas.
