Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Aims for Another State Tournament Berth

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (D-G-F) has started the 2025 season on a strong note, remaining undefeated three weeks in. The team's impressive defensive performance has been a key factor in their success.

Senior Brady Wadena stated that they have let up only one touchdown all year, and against Perham on September 12, D-G-F's defense did not allow a single point. The team's resilience was evident as they held Perham to a mere three rushing yards on 17 carries, averaging fewer than 0.2 yards per carry.

Senior Nolan Verdi expressed his belief that D-G-F's defense will continue to improve and will be strong, especially on defense. Verdi also stated that the team is starting to figure things out in the 2025 season.

The defensive mentality of D-G-F is focused on stopping the run, as there are many run-heavy teams. A significant improvement was observed on D-G-F's defensive side of the ball between their first two games. The one touchdown D-G-F allowed was on special teams against Thief River Falls.

According to Wadena, everyone on the team knows what they're doing, feels confident in each other, and trusts each other, creating a sense of family on the field. Wadena also stated that the best feeling in football is being able to trust each other and make plays, while getting hyped up on the sideline.

The 36-0 win against Perham is seen as emblematic of what D-G-F can still achieve, as they aim for another state tournament berth. D-G-F will face fellow undefeated Pillager on September 19 at 7:00 p.m. The team will be looking to maintain their defensive prowess and continue their winning streak against Pillager.

D-G-F began the 2025 season with wins against Thief River Falls and Park Rapids, with scores of 28-7 and 42-7, respectively. The team lost in the Class 3A, Section 8 championship game to Fergus Falls in 2024. However, this year, they are aiming to overcome their challenges and execute the fundamentals, with their eyes set on another state tournament appearance.
