Football Story Highlights: Shrader Sets NFL Record with 9 Field Goals, Indianapolis Colts Yet to Attempt Punt

In the ongoing NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts have been making headlines for their impressive offensive performances. One such game was the recent victory against Denver, where the team displayed a remarkable level of efficiency.

Despite not getting a chance to kick during the game, Rigoberto Sanchez, the Colts' punter, was a spectator who warmed up throughout the entire match. Sanchez, who has been with the team for eight pro seasons, prepared every day as if he might be needed during the game.

Meanwhile, Spencer Shrader, the Colts' kicker, had a significant role to play. Shrader, who made his pro debut with the team last season, has been making the most of his opportunities this year. He currently leads the league with 32 points this season, thanks to his consistent performances.

Shrader's journey with the Colts began when he replaced the injured Matt Gay in last season's opener. After a stint with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, he returned to the Colts following Gay's release.

Shrader's most recent performance came on Sunday, when he made both of his field-goal attempts, including the game-winner. This marked his ninth successful field goal in the first two games of the season, a league-high.

Interestingly, Sanchez finds himself in an unusual position this season. He has not punted in the first two games, with his punt being nullified by a penalty that gave Indy a first down. Remarkably, Sanchez has become the first punter in the Super Bowl era to be unused through the first two games of a season.

Despite not getting a chance to contribute on the field, Sanchez has formed a close bond with Shrader. They share side-by-side lockers and have developed a tight bond, with Sanchez praising Shrader's energy and dedication.

Under the guidance of head coach Shane Steichen, both Shrader and Sanchez are expected to continue their impressive form. As the Colts prepare for their next game, the duo will undoubtedly be ready to contribute in any way they can.
