Neymar's victory came at a time when Mbappé was yet to claim his first "Player of the Month" award in Ligue 1. The French forward would later break his own record, winning the title five times, tying with Ibrahimović in the process.

Mbappé's fifth win in February 2021 not only tied him with Ibrahimović but also marked the end of the drought for PSG. Prior to Mbappé, the last PSG player to win the "Player of the Month" award was Neymar.
