Jerome Boateng Announces New Career Chapter After Obtaining Trainer B License
Former Bayern Munich and Germany defender Jerome Boateng has announced his intention to start a new chapter in his career, following the successful completion of his Trainer B license with the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) in November 2024.
Boateng, who left Munich in 2021, has since played for Olympique Lyon, US Salernitana, and Linzer ASK. His contract with Linz was originally set to run until 2026, but was terminated in August 2022. Despite this, Boateng played 14 competitive games for the Austrian club before his departure.
The experienced defender expressed his gratitude for the enriching experience of working in a new environment and stated that it was the right time for him to embark on a new career path. Boateng also revealed that he was "naturally still a bit nervous" before the exam for the Trainer B license, but was thrilled to have passed and added the qualification to his impressive resume.
Boateng's next career step has not been publicly disclosed at this time, as he is yet to announce any new ventures since terminating his contract with Linz in August 2024. Regardless, the 34-year-old defender-turned-coach has certainly shown his adaptability and versatility in the ever-changing world of football.
Boateng's journey to becoming a coach began in 2021, when he obtained his Trainer B license in a special course offered by the BFV. With his new qualification, Boateng is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the coaching world and continue his successful career in football.
