The Infamous Henry Ruggs III: The NFL Comeback Saga

Henry Ruggs III, the notorious ex-NFL wide receiver, is eyeing a return to the gridiron despite serving a hefty prison sentence of over three years following a tragic DUI accident in November 2021. Cruising his Corvette at an jaw-dropping 156 mph with a blood alcohol level of 0.16%, he precipitated a catastrophic crash that claimed the life of 23-year-old Tina Tintor and left his own girlfriend severely injured.

From behind bars, Ruggs harbors dreams of a second act in the NFL. Approaching 26 and roughly 20 months into his incarceration, he meticulously maintains his athletic prowess. Yet, as the public ponders whether he deserves a second chance, this return to the field stirs more questions than cheers.

Sin city native, ex-Raiders teammate, Josh Jacobs, cast a remarkable insider's eye on Ruggs' status during an episode of "The Pivot Podcast."

"Keeping tabs on him and hearing his voice, it raises my spirits, as he always exudes a positive aura," Jacobs disclosed.

"He perpetually holds a positive outlook on life. He's training, and they even allow him to do so, so I'm thinking, 'When you're set free, mate, perhaps you'll get a opportunity.'"

November 2, 2021, was the date that Ruggs' reckless actions snuffed Tintor's life, along with her canine companion, and inflicted grievous injuries upon himself and his significant other. Shockingly, Jacobs suggested that certain NFL teams might extend Ruggs an olive branch, despite the numerous red flags.

"I've been in touch with some people on his behalf," Jacobs added.

"Apparently, a few teams are prepared to offer him a chance. I'm like, 'When that chance arrives, fella, don't ever look back and prove to everyone that one mistake doesn't define you as a person.'"

Jacobs also admitted to being extended an invitation to Ruggs' pre-crash night out at Top Golf. Notably, Jacobs declined to attend.

"And then when I began uncovering more about the incident and learning that they were supposed to be racing, I questioned who he was with. But he was with his family."

Ruggs III, whom the Las Vegas Raiders selected as the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, initially flashed potential with 50 receptions for 921 yards and four touchdowns in 20 career games. Tragically, in his second year, Ruggs' erratic choices derailed the trajectory of his career.

(Will Hell Henry Ruggs ever regain an NFL opportunity?)
