Los Angeles Chargers Linebacker Denzel Perryman Faces Felony Weapons Charges

Denzel Perryman, a 10-year NFL veteran and linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, is facing felony charges related to multiple weapons violations. According to reports, Perryman was arrested late Friday night, August 1, 2025, and booked shortly afterward.

The charges stem from allegations of possession of assault-style rifles and handguns found in Perryman's vehicle during a traffic stop. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) reported that Perryman was initially pulled over for vehicle code violations, and after further investigation, officers allegedly discovered five guns, two of which were assault-style rifles.

Perryman's court date is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Inglewood Municipal Court. His agent, Ron Butler, stated that Perryman will cooperate with authorities to get the case resolved.

In a statement, Butler emphasized that Perryman is a respected veteran, dedicated father, teammate, and professional. He also expressed confidence that the situation will be resolved fairly and in accordance with the law. No further comments will be made regarding the situation at this time, out of respect for the process and all parties involved.

Throughout his 10-year career, Perryman has amassed 717 tackles with 53 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Last season, Perryman started 11 games for the Los Angeles Chargers and totaled 55 tackles and two tackles for loss. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2021 with 154 tackles.

Perryman signed a one-year contract to remain with the Los Angeles Chargers in March. He has played for three NFL teams: Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Houston Texans. This will be Perryman's eighth season with the Los Angeles Chargers overall.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the Chargers organisation and fans will be closely monitoring the situation. Perryman's commitment to the team and his professionalism on and off the field have been widely acknowledged, and it is hoped that this incident will not impact his career negatively.
