Football player, already enduring a dismal career year, experiences yet another heartbreaking setback
In the world of women's rugby league, Jaime Chapman, a prominent figure in the NRLW competition, has recently faced two significant challenges - a serious injury during a game and a deepfake photo attack.
During a match against the Roosters, Chapman sustained a serious ankle injury. Commentator Ruan Sims described the incident as Chapman getting "squashed" and her leg "folded up" under other players. Brien Seeney, a well-known physiotherapist, suggested that Chapman's injury could be a possible fracture. Chapman was immediately aware of the injury and was seen clutching at her leg. She was assisted off the field by trainers, but the full extent of her injury is still not officially known.
Chapman, who is arguably the poster girl of the NRLW competition, having played for St George, the Broncos, and now the Titans, first made her mark in rep footy when she starred for the NSW Under-18s side in 2019. Since then, she has gone from a star club player to one of the NSW Blues' best in State of Origin and earning five appearances for the Jillaroos, making her one of the biggest stars in the women's game and representing both NSW and Australia.
Away from the field, Chapman has been targeted in a deepfake photo attack. Around July 2025, trolls targeted her with deepfake photos, prompting significant backlash. Police have reportedly begun investigating and closing in on those responsible for the attack. The deepfake images have had a 'scary' and 'damaging' effect on Chapman.
Interestingly, Chapman ended her relationship with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, a Maroons player, in June. Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that the split was due to an X-rated video featuring Tabuai-Fidow with another woman. Tabuai-Fidow is easily identifiable due to his tattoos, including a recent piece featuring a bear wearing a crown on his right thigh.
In a more recent update, Chapman posted on social media, revealing that she fractured the L2 vertebra in her lower lumbar spine earlier this year. She did not specify the cause of the fracture.
The deepfake photos and the recent revelations about her personal life have undoubtedly added to the challenges Chapman is currently facing. As the investigation into the deepfake photos continues, and Chapman works towards recovery from her injury, the rugby league community and fans alike will be hoping for a swift resolution and a speedy return to the field for this talented player.
