Football player Adrian Peterson under scrutiny for alleged Driving While Intoxicated offence
Adrian Peterson, the ex-NFL running back, finds himself in a pickle yet again. This time, he's charged with a misdemeanor count of DWI in the Hennepin County, Minnesota.
It all went down on a foggy Friday morning, April 25th, around 3:20 AM. Minnesota State Patrol nabbed Peterson, 40, for allegedly whipping down the highway at an astounding 83 mph in a 55-mph zone. The authorities were quick to slap him with a preliminary breath test, and Peterson failed it spectacularly, boasting a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%, well over Minnesota's legal limit of 0.08%.
The authorities weren't done with the former Vikings superstar just yet. After the test, they cuffed him and held him in the slammer for approximately two hours before slapping him with a $4,000 bond. He's set to face the music on May 9th at the Minneapolis courthouse.
Peterson's legal drama isn't exactly a new tune. His track record includes accusations of child abuse and domestic violence, not to mention some fishy financial mishaps.
Peterson, a Minnesota Viking from 2007 to 2016, racked up seven Pro Bowl selections and four first-team All-Pro nods in that span. He clinched NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 after churning out a whopping 2,097 yards on the ground. He ultimately retired after the 2021 season, leaving behind 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns in 184 games across seven clubs. He'll be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2027.
