Detroit Lions' Cornerback Morice Norris Shows Positive Signs After Seizure During Preseason Game

Morice Norris, an undrafted free agent from Fresno State, is currently in concussion protocol and doing well following a seizure and head injury during the NFL Preseason 2025 game between the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons. The incident occurred at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on August 8.

During a routine play in the fourth quarter, Norris suffered a violent hit to his head when Falcons' running back Nathan Carter collided with him. The impact left Norris motionless on the field for nearly 20 minutes before medical personnel and both teams' players and coaches gathered around him. A closer view of the incident was captured by Todd Kirkland/Getty Images.

After being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Norris was in stable condition before being released. He has since returned to the Lions' facility, where he is being closely monitored. Coach Dan Campbell reported on August 11 that Norris is "doing well" and is being monitored carefully over the next 10 to 14 days before reassessment.

Norris has also shared a message on social media reassuring fans about his recovery. The Lions organization is paying close attention to his recovery, with a focus on potential brain and spinal cord trauma linked to the seizure. Medical professionals have emphasized caution, highlighting the importance of concussion protocol in ensuring a full recovery.

The game between the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons resulted in one of the more unusual endings in NFL history. After the ambulance left the field, the Falcons took a snap before both head coaches agreed to suspend the remainder of the game.

The Lions coach, Dan Campbell, expressed that the incident was an eye-opener and put things in perspective, emphasizing the violent nature of the game. Players from both teams gathered at midfield in a prayer circle following the injury to Norris.
