Football Fan from Essen under BPOL-H Banner Assaults Federal Police in Hanover (in Red and White)
In an unexpected turn of events, a third-division football club's fans caused disorder on a train from Essen to Cottbus, leading to a series of incidents at Hannover Central Station.
The federal police were informed about the situation by Deutsche Bahn, and upon their arrival, the fans attempted to re-board the waiting train. However, their efforts were thwarted by officers. An 18-year-old fan, identified as the attacker, assaulted a federal police officer (27) during the incident.
The attacker was swiftly arrested at the scene by the Federal Police Hannover. The 18-year-old has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, and dangerous bodily harm, and an investigation has been initiated against him. A blood sample was ordered from the individual, and further details about him remain undisclosed.
The attacked federal police officer was taken to a hospital due to the assault. Thankfully, the situation did not escalate further, and the onward and return journey of the other fans proceeded without incident. Other fans cooperated and remained on the platform.
The police conducted a processing line with the support of the state police, during which the personal details of 78 people were recorded.
