Football Commentator Florian Silbereisen Under Scrutiny for Alleged Bias in Coverage
Cologne - Moderator Florian Silbereisen heaps praise on his colleague Esther Sedlaczek, praising her as a top-notch sports presenter. "I'm a die-hard football fan, and I always get a kick out of seeing Esther on the sideline. She pulls it off with charm and grit, and her insights are second to none," Silbereisen told the German Press Agency. "She often manages to extract more from players and coaches than they planned on dishing out."
Silbereisen admits he hasn't considered stepping into the role of a sideline sports presenter himself. "As a Bayern fan, I reckon I'd be too biased and struggle to keep my emotions in check," he confessed. But he added, "Who knows what the future has in store?"
Silbereisen's Big Break
Sedlaczek has been hosting "Sportschau" and German national football team matches for the ARD since 2021. Her impressive portfolio includes covering major football tournaments and the Olympics, as well as hosting the ARD Saturday night show "Die große Maus-Show".
With Sedlaczek taking parental leave, Silbereisen will step in for an upcoming episode of the family show, slated for the end of August. Seemingly, this marks a temporary switch for the Die große Maus-Show lineup, with seasoned presenter Judith Rakers filling in as the regular host starting from July 2025.
Prior to this, Sedlaczek will be welcoming audiences in her last performance as the host of "Die große Maus-Show" on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 8:15 PM.
