In a significant move for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi has transferred from Bournemouth to the French powerhouse. The deal, worth around €62-63 million plus additional bonus payments, was completed in early August 2025, securing Zabarnyi's services on a five-year contract.

Zabarnyi, a 22-year-old defender, is renowned for his aggressive defending and aerial ability. His impressive performance during the 2023-24 season led to a contract extension with Bournemouth, keeping him with the club until 2029. However, the allure of joining one of Europe's elite teams was too strong to resist.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi welcomed Zabarnyi as a "talented international player" who will contribute to the club’s long-term ambitions. The defender has already begun his integration at PSG, participating in first-day activities and interviews documented by the club.

Contrary to some rumours, there is no confirmed link or conditions relating Zabarnyi’s arrival to Matvey Safonov’s departure. Safonov, a Russia national team goalkeeper, was a key player for PSG last season, helping the club win the treble (Champions League, league, and French Cup).

Meanwhile, other transfer news is brewing in the football world. Kingsley Coman is reportedly in talks to transfer from Bayern Munich to Al-Nassr, and Manchester United has offered €85m for Rico Šeško.

As for PSG, their success last season has solidified their status as one of the strongest teams on the continent, allowing them to enter the European football elite. Recent reports suggest that Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Álvaro Morata has agreed to join Como.

With the addition of Zabarnyi, PSG continues to strengthen their squad, positioning themselves for another successful season in European football.

Bookmakers have announced odds for PSG's performance in the upcoming champions-league and European leagues with Zabarnyi in the squad. The defender's impact on the team, especially in sports like football, is expected to be significant, given his aggressive defending and aerial ability.
