Football club Paris FC recruits German goalkeeper Trapp
Kevin Trapp Returns to Ligue 1 with Paris FC
Kevin Trapp, the German goalkeeper with a storied career, has joined Ligue 1 club Paris FC on a permanent deal. This marks Trapp's return to France after a brief stint with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he spent the 2018-2019 season on loan.
Trapp began his professional journey at 1. FC Kaiserslautern before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2012. Over the next three years, he established himself as a regular starter and even played in the UEFA Europa League. In 2015, he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for approximately €10 million, where he won multiple domestic titles.
During his time at PSG, Trapp was a regular player in the side that won the Ligue 1 title in 2016. However, he fell out of favour and returned to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan in 2018, a move that would later become permanent. With Eintracht, Trapp helped the team finish third in the Bundesliga last term.
Trapp's international career is equally impressive. He has 21 caps with Germany's youth teams and made his senior debut in June 2017. He was part of the Germany squad that won the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Trapp has also competed in major tournaments such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2020, and the 2022 World Cup.
Paris FC, a newly promoted Ligue 1 club, is currently backed by the Arnaults, one of the world's wealthiest families. The club recently started their campaign in France's top flight, marking their first appearance in 46 years. Their first match in the current campaign ended in a 1-0 defeat away at Angers.
Trapp's experience at the top level is lacking in 22-year-old Obed Nkambadio, who was first choice last season. The young goalkeeper may find Trapp's guidance invaluable as Paris FC faces their next challenge, a trip to Marseille's Stade Velodrome.
Meanwhile, Marseille also lost their opener 1-0 to Rennes. Paris FC will be hoping to capitalize on Marseille's loss and secure their first win of the season. Trapp, with his wealth of experience and proven track record, could be the key to helping Paris FC achieve this goal.
