Klaus Borowski: A Pioneer of Local Football in East Germany

Klaus Borowski, a name synonymous with football in the small town of Neubrandenburg, East Germany. His influence on the sport in the region was significant, starting from his early days at BSG Post Neubrandenburg, the precursor club of today's FCN.

Borowski's football journey began at BSG Post, where he honed his skills as a player. It was here that he would later found the Walking Kickers, a team that would make headlines nationwide. As a player-coach, Borowski was instrumental in the formation of the Walking Kickers at FCN.

His coaching career extended beyond the Walking Kickers, with stints at Motor Süd Neubrandenburg and TSV Friedland. However, his dreams of joining the men's squad of the DDR second division team were dashed by intense competition at BSG Post and the presence of established players like Franz Strahl and Horst Behrens.

Despite not achieving his personal ambitions, Borowski's passion for football never waned. He often spoke of his pride in his son, Tim, who also started playing football in Neubrandenburg. Tim's football career would take him to greater heights, playing in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich, and becoming a national player.

One of Borowski's fondest memories was the 1968 third boys' tournament of the Free Earth, where he was a part of the selected Post players. The youth tournament, held in Neustrelitz, saw Tim Borowski shine as a young boy. However, the tournament was won by TSG Wismar with a score of 0:1 in the final.

Post-unification, Borowski continued to contribute to football, training the Post youth and briefly the men's team. His work with the youth teams continued to bear fruit, as they made their mark in local football.

Despite not achieving international fame, Klaus Borowski's impact on football in Neubrandenburg cannot be understated. His dedication to the sport, his nurturing of local talent, and his unwavering passion for the game have left a lasting legacy in the town.

However, it appears that Klaus Borowski is not a known figure in the wider football world, either in Germany or at Newcastle United, or that relevant information about his football career and contributions is not present in the indexed sources. This does not diminish the importance of his contributions to football in his hometown.
