Manchester United, after a disappointing 2022-2023 season that marked their worst finish in 51 years, are aiming for improvement in the upcoming campaign. The Red Devils have been active in the transfer market, bolstering their squad with some key signings and a new coach.

Bruno Fernandes has called for more signings before the transfer window closes, expressing concern over the team's performance during the U.S. tour and labeling it as "lazy". United have addressed this issue by spending £200 million on a new strike force, which includes RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo and Sesko were sought after by multiple clubs, but chose United due to its reputation as the biggest club in the world. The new forwards could make their debut against Arsenal next week, with Sesko expected to join the team this weekend. United's investment in their attack is a clear indication of their ambition to improve their dismal goalscoring record from last season, where they scored a record-low 44 league goals, five fewer than in any Premier League season.

The team has also been working on strengthening their defence, as they conceded 54 goals last season, their joint-third worst defensive record in Premier League history. Despite this, United looked energized and entertaining during their pre-season matches, winning three out of three, including a 4-1 victory over Bournemouth.

Coach Ruben Amorim, who took over mid-season last year, inheriting an underperforming team, has the backing of fans to bring about change at the club. Amorim has asked supporters to judge him after a full pre-season to instil his ideas. The starting line-up in the pre-season matches retained nine players from the team that performed poorly in the Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the team faces a challenging start to the season with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea in the first five games. Despite not competing in any European competition this season, supporters remain optimistic about the pull of Manchester United. Amorim believes the team will be better this season and that he will be better at managing it. With the new signings and the coach's determination, Manchester United fans are hoping for a much-improved performance in the upcoming season.
