Football club Chelsea FC enters into extensive partnership with Nike concerning their uniform supply.
Chelsea Secures Landmark Deal with Nike
Chelsea Football Club, currently seventh in the Premier League standings, has announced a significant commercial move that is set to propel the club into new heights. The club has entered into a long-term partnership with Nike, starting from next year, marking the largest commercial deal in Chelsea's history.
The deal with Nike, expected to provide substantial support for Chelsea's growth and development, is reported to be worth 60 million pounds ($74.61 million) per season. This is more than double the amount Adidas was paying, estimated to be around 30 million pounds ($43.38 million) a year.
Nike will take over production of strips for Chelsea's first team, academy, and ladies teams, as well as a full range of clothing for the club's supporters worldwide. Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia believes this partnership will support the club's growth into new markets and help maintain its place among the world's elite football clubs.
The deal is expected to aid Chelsea in its international expansion, with Granovskaia stating, "Nike's global reach will be instrumental in helping us grow our presence in key markets around the world."
Chelsea's current kit is produced by Adidas, a partnership that came to an end on June 30, 2017. The search results do not provide information about the new main sponsor of Chelsea Football Club or the amount of a monthly scholarship mentioned in a 2016 article update.
Despite winning the Premier League title in 2014-15, Chelsea's current performance in the league is relatively mediocre, with a seventh-place standing after seven games this season. This poor run of form last season resulted in their failure to qualify for European football.
The club is owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has been instrumental in Chelsea's success since his takeover in 2003. Despite the current league standings, Abramovich's ambition for Chelsea remains undeterred, as evidenced by this long-term partnership with Nike.
