Football club Aston Villa poised to secure the signing of Feyenoord's 18-year-old forward Zepiqueno Redmond, transfer reportedly occurring at no cost.
Aston Villa Set to Secure Free Transfer of Promising Dutch Striker Zepiqueno Redmond
Aston Villa are on the brink of signing young Feyenoord striker Zepiqueno Redmond, following an agreement that was reached between the two parties.
Unai Emery, Villa's manager, hopes that Redmond, an 18-year-old Dutch youth international, can emulate the success of Jhon Duran, whom Emery recruited from Chicago Fire in January 2023. Duran cost Villa £14.5million, and the club profited by £50million when they sold him to Saudi giants Al-Nassr two years later.
Redmond's contract with Feyenoord will expire at the end of June, and Villa have managed to beat off competition from several Premier League clubs, as well as European contenders, in securing his services. The Dutch youngster can play both as a striker and on the wing.
Villa have aimed to reinforce their attacking options since parting ways with Duran in January, and Redmond appears to be the answer to their search for a young, talented forward. The Dutchman has made nine senior appearances for Feyenoord, scoring two goals. Notably, he made his Champions League debut in a league phase clash against AC Milan at the San Siro in February.
Redmond has represented the Netherlands at the Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19 levels and has been a consistent figure for the latter in the past year.
Established in 1908, Feyenoord is one of the most successful Dutch football clubs, with an impressive history of successes in domestic competitions and European tournaments.
Zepiqueno Redmond, an emerging star versatile forward, looks set to embark on a new adventure in the English Premier League with Aston Villa.
