Footage Emerges: Suspect Spotted Shooting Near Disha Patani's Residence in Bareilly
In a significant turn of events, two members of a criminal gang, believed to be connected to the attack on Bollywood actress Disha Patani's residence in Bareilly, have been killed in an encounter with the UP Special Task Force (STF) in Ghaziabad's Tronica City.
The incident, which occurred on September 12, 2022, saw two motorcycle-borne criminals firing a gun outside Disha Patani's home in Bareilly. A video of the incident has since surfaced online, showing the perpetrators in action.
According to reports, Disha Patani's family, including her father, retired DSP Jagdish Singh Patani, her mother, and elder sister Khushbu Patani, were present inside their residence at Villa No. 40 in Civil Lines during the incident. The criminals, after causing a commotion with loud dog barks, turned back and fired several rounds at the residence before fleeing the scene.
The deceased accused have been identified as Ravindra, son of Kallu from Rohtak's Kahani, and Arun, son of Rajendra from Indian Colony in Sonipat's Gohana Road. The gun used in the attack was reportedly foreign-made.
The encounter was carried out as part of a joint operation by the Delhi Police special cell, UP STF, and Haryana STF. The attackers fired about 10-15 rounds in quick succession before they were neutralised.
Goldy Brar, one of the gang leaders, claimed responsibility for the attack on Disha Patani on social media, stating that the firing was due to alleged 'insulting' remarks made by Disha Patani and her sister about two religious figures: Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya. However, Brar's post was later deleted, and he warned in another post that this was 'just a trailer' and further violence would follow.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to Disha Patani's father following the incident, assuring him of the state's support and protection. The family remains under police protection after the incident, with armed police guards stationed at their residence.
The incident is suspected to be an 'intimidation tactic linked to extortion'. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to be released in due course.
