Food delivery services in Latvia are reportedly not a source of public grievances, according to the responsible authority.
In the first half of the year, the Public Vigilance Directorate (PVD) conducted 162 inspections across over 5,500 couriers working in catering establishments and shops. The inspections revealed a concerning issue: 120 cases where the couriers had not completed the mandatory hygiene training.
The PVD, responsible for regulating food safety in Providence, took immediate action against the caterers involved. However, as of now, there is no publicly available update on the enforcement or remediation efforts being made to address this issue.
The lack of hygiene training among couriers could potentially pose a risk to food safety. To ensure compliance, PVD inspectors are vigilant in checking if the necessary training has been provided.
Interestingly, no complaints were received regarding inadequate delivery or dirty bags. However, 11 complaints were lodged about allegedly poor-quality or contaminated food. Two of these complaints were confirmed.
In response to the untrained couriers issue, the PVD issued instructions for all couriers to complete their hygiene training by a specified deadline. It is unclear from the available information whether these instructions have been fully implemented.
For those concerned about the state of food quality and courier hygiene training enforcement in Providence, it may be necessary to consult local public health or regulatory authority bulletins, or contact the PVD directly for the latest enforcement status and compliance initiatives.
