Foo Fighters unveil their new drummer and hint at an upcoming tour through a humorous AI-infused video, promising "There's more to come"

After a year-long break, Foo Fighters made their triumphant return to the stage on September 13 at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. The band, known for their raw and energetic performances, delivered an electrifying set to a crowd of eager fans.

The band's first gig of 2025 saw them performing tracks from their 11th and latest album, 'But Here We Are', which was released in 2023. The setlist for the show can be found here.

In a nod to their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, the band shared a heartfelt message upon the release of their latest single, 'Today's Song', which they shared this summer. Dave Grohl, the band's lead vocalist, mentioned that Hawkins is 'still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever.'

The band has been tight-lipped about their future plans, but they have teased that there is more to come. Foo Fighters have been rehearsing tirelessly for their upcoming shows and have shared photos from the studio, suggesting that their next era is about to begin.

In a recent video, the band promised '100 per cent real, raw, human element of rock and roll.' The video, which teased an upcoming tour, showed the band members playing their instruments with passion and energy. Interestingly, the video featured Ilan Rubin playing a huge kit with 10 arms, raising speculation about what fans can expect from the band's new lineup.

Ilan Rubin, who replaced Josh Freese as the drummer for Foo Fighters, joined the band not directly after Taylor Hawkins' death, but rather after the band parted ways with Josh Freese in 2023. Freese, who recently rejoined Nine Inch Nails for their North American 'Peel It Back' tour, addressed his sacking from Foo Fighters, stating it was more an issue with their management.

In a recent interview, Ilan Rubin expressed his gratitude for the positivity and support he has received since joining the band. Dave Grohl also took the opportunity to thank every former member of the band, including Josh Freese, for their contributions.

On September 17, Foo Fighters shared a tongue-in-cheek AI video titled 'A Message From Foo Fighters'. The video hinted at the band's upcoming plans, but left fans eagerly awaiting more details.

The band also played a second small gig on September 15 at The Observatory in Santa Ana. The band members in the video claimed that their music is 'genuine passion of the six living, breathing human beings on stage.' With their return to the stage, Foo Fighters have proven that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the world of rock and roll.
