Following Tomorrowland's inferno, the event organizers are left contemplating between two possible courses of action.
Following the unfortunate fire that engulfed the main stage at the Tomorrowland festival in Belgium on July 16th, organizers are working tirelessly to ensure the event continues as planned. Two possible scenarios are under consideration: either the main stage can be secured, and the festival will open as planned, or there may be possible restrictions due to the fire.
In the event of restrictions, several alternatives are being explored to maintain the festival's unique atmosphere. One such alternative is a modified main stage setup, with the new stage significantly smaller than the original, measuring 70 meters wide and 8 meters high, compared to the original 160 meters wide and 45 meters high. Additionally, fireworks, which were present during the blaze on the original stage, will not be included in the new setup.
Tomorrowland boasts 14 additional stages, and these may play a crucial role in accommodating performances and crowds if the main stage is unavailable. However, adjusting the schedule to accommodate major headliners and maintaining the festival's signature experience will present logistical challenges.
The festival's campsite, DreamVille, will open as planned on July 17th, ensuring that attendees can still enjoy some aspects of the festival experience. All pre-festival events in Brussels and Antwerp will proceed according to schedule.
The music community and attendees are expressing support and optimism about the festival's ability to adapt and provide a memorable experience despite the setback. The mayor of Rumst and festival organizers have emphasized that cancellation is not an option, highlighting their commitment to preserving the festival experience.
An important announcement was made to Tomorrowland visitors on July 17th. If the available capacities are not sufficient, the festival site and the camping site "DreamVille" will have to be separated. In the second scenario, acts planned for Friday on the main stage will perform instead on the "The Gathering Stage" on the "DreamVille" site. Only visitors with a Friday day pass, a Global Journey Hotel Package, and the Full Madness Pass would have access in this scenario.
The organizers aim to provide a program for all visitors, regardless of the ticket they have purchased. Visitors with a Friday day pass, a Global Journey Hotel Package, and the Full Madness Pass will have access to the DreamVille site and its stages in the second scenario. From Saturday (19th July) 12 pm, all areas of the site will be available to all visitors. However, the organizers have announced that the site will open at 2 pm, not 12 pm as originally planned.
The Parookaville boss was left speechless and deeply moved by the Tomorrowland inferno, expressing solidarity with the organizers. The organizers of Tomorrowland have stressed that it's a race against time to rebuild the main stage, and they are currently working to rebuild it in time for the opening on Friday.
Despite the challenges, the organizers have expressed that they are still devastated but have received heartwarming support from festival-goers. The Tomorrowland festival will still proceed, with many visitors already having arrived, ready to celebrate the festival's unique atmosphere and world-class lineup.
Amid the potential restrictions for the main stage, organizers are exploring alternative setups to maintain the festival's distinctive entertainment, such as the possibility of a smaller stage for music performances.
In the event of a separate festival site and DreamVille, acts initially planned for the main stage might instead perform on the Gathering Stage within DreamVille.
