After a string of high-energy performances, the members of German punk rock band The Doctors decide it's time for a well-deserved break. As drummer Bela B (61) explained on ARD's podcast series "This One Love," the group has been non-stop performing and releasing albums for three consecutive years, leaving them in need of some rest.

Recently, The Doctors rocked the stage for three nights in a row at Tempelhofer Feld, entertaining approximately 150,000 enthusiastic fans each night. Guitarist Farin Urlaub (60) shared in an interview with Marco Seiffert of radioeins that he's planning a lengthy eco-friendly journey in 2023, covering distances by bicycle and on foot.

But what's next for the band? When asked about The Doctors' future, the musicians remain tight-lipped, with bassist Rodrigo Gonzalez (56) simply declaring, "I'm not revealing that!" Previously, Farin announced, "We'll have to see how the Berlin gigs turn out. If we still get along after, the band might continue. Whether we'll do more, I'm not sure. But we'll still be around." All three members also have their own side projects.

Mysterious past breaks

In January 2019, rumors of a reunion circulated after the self-proclaimed "best band in the world" posted a complex letter puzzle on their website, marking a six-year hiatus from touring Germany. Traces of The Doctors can be found in the German music scene's history, starting in 1982 during the "New German Wave" in West Berlin. After disbanding in 1988, they reformed in 1993 with a new lineup, with bassist Gonzalez remaining a constant member. Their concerts are often a sellout.

Though the band had to take a break due to their relentless touring and album releases, their future plans are shrouded in mystery, making fans wait with bated breath for any further announcements.
