In a series of significant counter-terror operations, Indian security forces have successfully eliminated dozens of terrorists in various encounters across Jammu and Kashmir. The operations, which involved the Indian Army, CRPF, BSF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, have targeted various terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF).

The deadliest encounter took place in the Pahalgam massacre, where three LeT terrorists—Sulaiman, Afghan, and Jibran—were killed in Mulnar village as part of Operation Mahadev. These terrorists were involved in the tragic Pahalgam massacre that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, making it the deadliest attack on tourists in India since 2008.

In another operation under Operation Shivshakti, two LeT terrorists were eliminated in the Poonch region. The identities of these terrorists remain unknown.

Operation Akhal, conducted in Kulgam, resulted in the elimination of three LeT terrorists: Zakir Ahmed Gani, Adil Rehman Dentu, and Harish Dar. The security forces stated that these terrorists had recently been reactivated for local recruitment and planning logistical support for cross-border infiltrators.

In an encounter in the Samba district, seven Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were eliminated, all of whom were Pakistani nationals.

In the Tral forest area, three JeM militants—Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Aamir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmed Bhatt—were eliminated.

While the exact roles of individual TRF members involved in the Pahalgam attack or subsequent counter-terrorism operations remain unidentified, the UN Security Council has officially identified TRF as responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack. TRF is a Pakistani Islamist terrorist group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and engaged in militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.

The operations have also led to the elimination of key LeT terrorists such as Shahid Kutte, Adnan Shafi Dar, and Aamir Bashir in the Shopian district.

It's important to note that while the exact roles and identities of TRF and LeT operatives remain unclear, these counter-terror operations aim to disrupt their recruitment, operational, and propaganda capabilities, and to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
