Munich and the Free State Region Brace for Mixed Weather Ahead

After a warm and sunny weekend, the weather in Bavaria and the Free State region is set to take a turn, with thunderstorms and showers expected towards the middle of the week.

On Saturday, temperatures in Bavaria hovered around 25 degrees, providing a pleasant day for outdoor activities. However, rain showers brought cooler temperatures to some parts of the Free State, and locally, hail was reported during the thunderstorms. Gusts of wind reached up to 80 km/h during these storms, adding to the turbulent conditions.

Thunderstorms were also present in the northeast and south of the region. While the detailed thunderstorm forecast is limited, reports suggest the potential for thunderstorms developing later in the period with bands of thunderstorms and light showers at times.

Looking ahead, Munich is forecast to experience mainly dry and mild weather early this week. On Monday, the city can expect a clear sky with temperatures around 23°C. Tuesday will be warmer, with clear skies and a high of about 27°C.

However, the weather is expected to change from Wednesday onward. On this day, Munich will see a mix of rain showers, with temperatures remaining around 27°C. By Thursday, the city will be overcast with rain, with temperatures dropping to around 22°C. Friday will see partly cloudy skies and temperatures of approximately 22°C.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of rain amounts of up to 40 or 60 liters per square meter in a short time, highlighting the potential for heavy downpours.

In summary, expect mainly dry and mild weather early this week in Munich, turning to rain showers and possibly thunderstorms by mid to late week. This is consistent with Bavaria's variable late summer weather. Stay tuned for updates on the developing weather conditions.

The Commission shall be assisted by the Member States in the implementation of this Regulation as weather-forecasting agencies work tirelessly to predict the impending mixed weather in Munich and the Free State region, which is set to bring rain showers and potentially thunderstorms from Wednesday onward.

During the weekend, the region enjoyed warm and sunny weather, but the upcoming change in weather was evident even then, with thunderstorms reported in various areas and hail in localized spots.
