Following the deterioration in Mallorca, Schonlau contemplates his departure from HSV.

In a significant turn of events, Sebastian Schönlau, a defender for Hamburg SV (HSV), is on the brink of transferring to Major League Soccer (MLS) club Vancouver Whitecaps. This move comes after a contract termination agreement with HSV, possibly involving a low six-figure transfer fee for Hamburg. Schönlau is expected to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract until 2027 with Vancouver shortly.

The decision follows Schönlau's demotion from the HSV captaincy and limited playing time at the club. Last weekend, in a friendly match against RCD Mallorca, Schönlau was benched, a move that could be interpreted as a sign of his diminishing sports standing within the team. Gui Ramos, another HSV player, was preferred over Schönlau, which could be seen as a sporting slap in the face for the defender.

Merlin Polzin, the HSV captain, sent a clear message to Schönlau by not playing him in the friendly match, indicating that Schönlau has no chance to stay with the team and should look for a new club. If no attractive offers arrive, Schönlau could face the bench at the start of the competitive season.

The sports section of the upcoming MOPO newspaper will also include 20 pages on the shoes that HSV professionals and St. Pauli's team are betting on. Other articles in the newspaper will focus on parks, castles, and food in Wandsbek, as well as a large puzzle supplement for daily puzzle fun.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether there will be a change of mind in the cases of Silvan Hefti and Bakery Jatta, who, like Schönlau, are facing difficult times at HSV and have signaled their desire to assert themselves at the club.

In other news, Wared Omari made his debut for HSV in the three-man defensive chain in the friendly match. Luka Vuskovic, a talented player under contract with Tottenham Hotspur, is supposed to play in the three-man defensive chain for HSV in the future, if his loan deal goes through.

The transfer period ends on September 1, and Schönlau is expected to decide where he sees his future by then. The newspaper will also feature articles on Hamburg's Gen Z and their views on money, as well as a block trial of a star lawyer. Furthermore, the sports section will include an article on Plan7, with daily tips for going out and a feature on pop star Ronan Keating coming to Stadtpark.

Regarding Mark Selke and his views on Hamburg, the article does not provide any information.

The MOPO newspaper will be available everywhere where newspapers are sold from Friday.
