Title: Rescheduling Looming in 2. Handball-Bundesliga: A Showdown that Could Determine Fate

Following DHB decision: Replay date remains undetermined - Following the court decision by DHB:

Despite the season nearing its end, a rematch looms large in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga, with potential consequences for the relegation race. The Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) brass is in constant communication with the German Handball Association (DHB) and the involved parties regarding the details of rescheduling a crucial game between TuSEM Essen and Dessau-Roßlauer HV 06. As per dpa reports, the match is set to take place in late June, with the season drawing to a close on June 30th.

The Necessity of a Replay

The DHB's Federal Court ruled on June 12th, mandating a replay due to a decisive rules violation by the game's timekeeper and secretary during the April 27th clash in Essen. The game ended with a 28:27 victory for Dessau. If the rematch results in a loss for Dessau, it would face relegation, while Essen remains unaffected by the situation.

The Unwinding Holiday Vacations

The complicating factor is that several players and coaching staff are already on holiday, with some enjoying time in Argentina and Indonesia. Harm Klock, Dessau's managing director, stated that both clubs might have to revoke the statutory holiday entitlement for their employees between the last game and June 30th and summon them back immediately.

No Alternatives, Says HBL Chief

Frank Bohmann, the HBL CEO, suggests that a rematch is the only viable option, stating that the agreed-upon rules must be adhered to by all participating clubs. An expansion to 19 teams is not under consideration. Bohmann held a firm stance, stating that those who choose to go on vacation should bear the consequences, emphasizing that the game will be played before June 30th.

Dessau Answers Back

The Dessau team argues that the rules violation is solely attributable to the referees and maintains that there is no conceivable scenario in which the game could decide the match result in the final three seconds and result in Dessau's relegation.

The Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) is considering a rematch between TuSEM Essen and Dessau-Roßlauer HV 06, in light of a rules violation in their April 27th game that ended 28:27 in favor of Dessau. If Essen wins the rematch, they will not be relegated, while Dessau may face relegation.

The complicating factor is that several Dessau players and coaches are on holiday in locations such as Argentina and Indonesia, which may require them to revoke their holiday entitlement and return immediately to play the rematch before June 30th.
