In a peculiar turn of events, an income certificate application from Jehanabad district of Bihar, listing the applicant's name as "Samsung" and the parents as "iPhone" and "Smartphone", has been identified as a prank. The application, which has gone viral on social media, was rejected by the Modanganj block officials, and a formal complaint has been lodged with the Cyber Police in Jehanabad.
The application, which claims the family's address as a "gaddha" or a pit, was found to be a waste of government resources and time, according to Circle Officer Mohammad Asif Hussain. He has pledged to take strict legal action against the pranksters responsible for this and similar cases.
This incident follows a previous case in Bihar involving a residence certificate application for a pet dog and other unusual applications. The misuse of certification processes is a pattern that local authorities are addressing seriously with legal measures.
The officer, CO Mohammad Asif Hussain, was informed about the application and expressed his disapproval of such acts. He stated that such theatrics are a waste of time and resources of government employees.
The incident has been reported by News18, and a picture of the purported income certificate form has been circulating on social media. The picture shows the applicant's parents named as Smartphone and iPhone.
It is worth noting that an earlier residence certificate for "Dog Babu" had been issued in Patna district, indicating a pattern of such pranks in the region.
