In the picturesque town of Wernau am Neckar, a vibrant community event took place, bringing together various associations and showcasing the town's unique facilities. At the heart of it all was Mayor Christiane Krieger, one of Germany's youngest mayors, who has been serving the town for five years.

Mayor Krieger, at the tender age of 32, was elected with an impressive 70% of the votes. However, her tenure began under unusual circumstances. Due to a court case challenging her election, Krieger was initially an "appointed mayor." The lawsuit, which took over 500 days to be decided, was against the district administration that issued the election review decision.

Despite these challenges, Krieger has been actively working to improve the town. The town hall, a hub of activity, boasts a conference center, wellness facilities, a sauna, and an indoor pool. These facilities, expanded to the town hall basement in the 1960s, are a source of pride for the town.

However, Mayor Krieger has expressed difficulties in using the indoor pool and wellness facilities due to the need for seriousness. Consequently, she has been in talks with members of the state parliament and the Baden-Württemberg Association of Towns and Municipalities about this issue.

The town hall also serves as a learning ground for the town's children. On a special day, all daycare centres brought their children to the town hall, where they learned about the work of different city departments.

The event also provided an opportunity for associations to get to know each other and discover cooperation opportunities. The town hall was the venue for the first "Market of Opportunities," where over 100 associations presented themselves.

The municipality attracts new employees with the opportunity to use the sauna after work and the restaurant on the ground floor during lunch. During the event, the voluntary fire brigade presented Mayor Krieger with a fire bucket as a gift.

Mayor Krieger is advocating for election challenge lawsuits to be treated as a priority in courts in the future. She believes that such lengthy legal battles are harmful to democracy. The "joke candidate" who challenged her election was not able to make it onto the ballot due to a lack of supporting signatures.

In a town where cooperation and community spirit are evident, Mayor Krieger continues to work tirelessly for the betterment of Wernau am Neckar. Her dedication and advocacy for reform are shaping the town's future.
